The Power of the Pause: Experiencing the impact of Yin Yoga and Meditation

Yin Yoga is a slow, steady, and meditative practice that offers a welcome pause from the fast pace of daily life. It’s designed to bring balance to both body and mind, creating space for self-awareness and a deeper connection to how you’re feeling in the moment. For nonprofit professionals—who often navigate high-pressure, emotionally charged environments—Yin is a chance to notice the body’s stress responses without judgment. The long-held shapes gently target the deeper connective tissues, helping to release stiffness from long hours of sitting, improve mobility, and encourage healthy blood flow. In this session, we’ll explore how Yin can help you stay present and steady, even during moments of discomfort, and how that skill supports your personal well-being. You’ll be guided through a few simple Yin shapes and meditation practices you can easily bring into your office or home routine.

How Burnout Impacts Ethical Decision Making

Boundary crossings occur every day -- we engage in email conversations, we hug family and friends, we hand a tissue to someone crying. Boundary violations occur when we, intentionally or not, cross a boundary that results in harm or potential harm to another. It's easy to say this won't happen to us -- we won't violate a boundary. But when we are burned out, we begin to make desperate choices that aren't always ethically sound. Join us for this training session to learn more about understanding burnout and how it impacts our decision making.

Maddie Boerste & Sara Keith

Be Found Counseling

SCS 2025

About Maddie: Maddie’s three greatest passions in the work that she does are grief, anxiety, and identity. While walking through her own grief journey, she discovered a unique gift to partner with others in their questioning, processing, and planning for life after loss. Similarly, her own walk with anxiety and depression has equipped me to walk step by step with others in their unique experience in those areas. She primarily works with adult women and couples, and is passionate about uncovering the developmental and relational woundings that may be impacting their lives and keeping them “stuck”. Throughout the lifespan, identity is an ever-changing yet deep-rooted process as we grow and develop. Maddie thrives in partnering with her clients in discovering what makes them come alive and unveiling their unique identity. About Sara: Sara’s approach to therapy tends to draw from cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, attachment, and trauma-informed therapies. She has specialized training in a developmental and relational trauma model (HOCI - Healing Our Core Issues). During the counseling process, she seeks to help clients find and heal parts of themselves that have gotten wounded and left behind. We do this by engaging the whole person - body, mind, heart, and spirit. Among other approaches, Sara often utilizes reparenting and experiential techniques, somatic exercises, and mindfulness practices to help clients form a secure sense of self and heal from trauma. When the weather is pleasant, she also offers walk and talk nature therapy, and intends to begin offering therapeutic gardening as well. Sara has always been enthralled by the beauty of nature, especially when hiking, scuba diving, gardening, skiing, and being around animals, so she really enjoys getting to offer these experiential therapy opportunities. Sara loves this work. She loves getting to support and celebrate clients as they explore and uncover next steps in their walk towards goals and healing. Ultimately, she believes this process helps clients uncover the person they were always created to be; a unique and treasured presence. Sara strives to provide a warm, safe, therapeutic space for clients to explore their current emotions and beliefs and she’d love to journey with you when you’re ready!

Organizations that prioritize it experience, higher engagement, stronger team cohesion, and measurable improvements in performance. Without it, even the most talented teams remain silent, disengaged, or hesitant to bring forward their best ideas. Leaders who embrace psychological safety not only strengthen team trust—they also unlock creativity, retention, and performance that competitors can’t replicate. In an era where culture is currency, this workshop gives leaders a decisive edge.

Developmental and Relational Trauma (2/3): and Its Impact on Boundaries

Developmental and relational trauma profoundly influences an individual's ability to establish and maintain healthy boundaries. These traumas, rooted in early caregiving relationships, often result in distorted perceptions of personal needs and limits, making boundary-setting a challenging and ongoing process.

Laura Williams, LPC-MHSP

Be Found Counseling

SCS 2024

Laura Williams is one of the co-owners of Be Found Counseling, part of the core faculty at the Healing Our Core Issues Institute (HOCI) and host of Encountering You, a podcast based on the basic principles of the HOCI. Being a counselor is not a profession or a job—it is so much more than that. It is the unique opportunity to witness the healing work of the community of people Laura comes in contact with, both with clients and fellow counselors. HOCI’s model focuses their work around our worth as humans, how to grow the ability to have healthy boundaries with ourselves and in relationships, creating meaning out of the reality that we are human and imperfect, taking responsibility for our needs and wants, creating joy and spontaneity in our lives and learning to grow a secure attachment to ourselves and in our relationships. It is life-changing. IT WORKS. Laura feels like many of us find ourselves in the wilderness in different parts of our lives at multiple points in our lives. What this model offers is: hope in the wilderness when we feel depressed, anxious, hopeless, helpless, angry, lonely, sad, or scared. And it offers a foundation from which you can heal from over and over again. What Laura knows is that after experiencing the transformation that happens through this work, she know longer fears the wilderness—She is ready. And is honored to jump into the wilderness with you.
