Amanda has the strength of seeing the best in people and practices from a place of compassion, grace, and hope. Amanda has been in the social services/mental health world for the past 10+ years. She found herself in a place of deep burnout and secondary traumatic stress early on in her career that led to feelings of utter exhaustion and hopelessness that there was any good or possibility for change in this world. That experience spurred her career as a therapist working 1:1 with individuals to improve their emotional health and well-being as well as her passion for helping the helpers as they do the hard work of serving others and sitting with others in their pain. Amanda also recognizes the trauma many helpers are exposed to as they serve others and is highly trained in EMDR to help alleviate symptoms of traumatic stress.

Burns prefers adult clients. He is most experienced with clients suffering from anxiety/depression and grief. Burns enjoys working with clients seeking per-marital counseling or married couples who are looking to strengthen their marriage. He is a certified SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before it Starts) facilitator; and he enjoys working with clients with spiritual issues (i.e., crisis of faith, discernment of a call to ordained ministry, seeking purpose/identity). Burns is a Christian, but is open to working with clients of any faith or no faith at all. He also enjoys using the enneagram with his clients if they are so inclined.

Cara is a National Certified Counselor and is certified in the Grief Recovery Method ® and with experience and training in spiritual integration. She is comfortable working with people of all faiths or no faith, equally.

Cara received her Masters from Richmont Graduate University and her Bachelors from the University of Georgia. While in graduate school she obtained her certification for grief work. While grief is her specialty, Cara readily works with individuals and with couples experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-worth, co-dependency, relational issues, life transitions, addiction recovery, pre-marital, affair recovery, and more.

Cara believes the most important element in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. Because of this, she works hard to understand each individual and create a safe and open space. While she works with a variety of therapeutic approaches, Cara finds most of her work centers around the Psychodynamic theory, recognizing that we all believe and inevitably behave the messages we narrate unconsciously. By understanding these beliefs and messages and how they originated, we can ultimately change all aspects of our lives. In her free time, Cara enjoys being outdoors with every opportunity and hiking with her rescue pup.

Certifications: LPC-MHSP Certified Spiritual Director

In all that occurs in our life – from the mundane to the extraordinary, in the joys and in the sorrows – God is present with us and is drawing us into closer communion with himself. Kendra is a certified spiritual director and brings to her practice over twenty years of experience as a licensed professional counselor and psychotherapist. She most enjoys her work at the intersection of mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Whether in a therapeutic relationship or one of spiritual companioning (or a combination of the two) she sees this work as cultivating a depth of soul.

At its foundation a relationship of spiritual direction is an invitation to be still and attentive to God in all the moments of our lives. As a spiritual companion, Kendra invites you into the sacred space where, together, we can explore your relationship with the Divine. This may include guiding you in creating a rule of life, practicing discernment, or learning a new spiritual practice. She also finds the use of poetry, art, and the exploration of dreams help connect us more deeply with God. Additionally, she has been studying the Enneagram for over fifteen years and has found it to be an incredibly helpful tool in understanding self and others better.

In her work as a therapist Kendra’s approach is psychodynamic, which means there is value placed on your early life experiences and family relationships and how those experiences are impacting your current behaviors and relationships. Her style is insight-oriented and relational, emphasizing the value of a safe and trustworthy therapeutic relationship. Kendra believes psychotherapy is a collaborative process where her clients can learn to cope with their current struggles while also fostering a curiosity about their deeper selves. Kendra is a certified EMDR practitioner and incorporates Internal Family Systems work as well as practices based on Interpersonal Neurobiology when appropriate.

In all of these endeavors she seeks to help others awaken to their truest self.

Certifications: Master of Divinity, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and the Tennessee Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, Certified SYMBIS Assessment Facilitator for pre-marital and married couples

Having spent many years in non-profit and ministry settings, Nick knows the importance of individual healing, recovery, and personal growth for those working in those callings first hand. He also knows the challenges and struggles of those in more traditional business and marketplace settings, having spent many years in project management. Thus, his approach to counseling and therapy is relational, story driven, and solution focused. It is founded upon the belief that humans are relational beings to the core. We live and thrive (and also suffer) in relationship with ourselves, others, God, and all of creation. Healing and growth, then, are fundamentally relational in nature. Where there is wounding in relationship, there is the need for healing in relationship.

Nick works with individuals and couples to help them come to bless the space between where they are and where they want to be as they recover their hearts and redeem their stories in the here and now. He seeks to make counseling a place of hope where clients can tell the truth about the pain of where they are, grieve the tragedy of where they’ve been, and dare to move into where they want to go.
